Biography

Ms. Austin (formerly Ms. Higgins) joined Falfurrias Management Partners as an Analyst in 2016, was promoted to Associate in 2018 and Vice President in January 2021. In her role as Vice President, Ms. Austin is responsible for acquisition sourcing, structuring, deal execution, and portfolio company support. She leads the Education & Workforce Development practice and primarily covers the business services sector. Ms. Austin played golf collegiately for Vanderbilt University and the University of South Carolina.

Biography

Mr. Baker joined Falfurrias Management Partners as an Associate in 2023. Previously, Mr. Baker served as an Analyst at Lazard Freres & Co., the world’s largest independent investment bank, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions in the Industrial Software and Technology Group. He earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business where he graduated as Salutatorian and Academic All-American, having served as two-time Captain of the men’s Golf Team.

Biography

Mr. Brady joined Falfurrias Management Partners in November 2021, and currently serves as Vice President of Finance.  Mr. Brady works with the Risk & Integration Team to support the deal execution process, post-close integration, and ongoing monitoring of portfolio company performance.

Prior to joining the Firm, he worked at BDO as a Senior Manager in the Transaction Advisory Services Group.  He provided services to private equity and corporate clients on both buy-side and sell-side stand-alone transactions, carve-out transactions, and add-on acquisitions.  Prior to BDO, Mr. Brady performed assurance services at PwC.

Mr. Brady earned a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Masters in Professional Accountancy from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.

Biography

Ms. Brandt joined Falfurrias Management Partners as a Partner in 2023 to help lead Falfurrias Growth Partners. Prior to joining the Firm, she was Operating Executive Director at Serent Capital.  Serent Capital is a leading lower-middle market private equity firm focused on investing in high growth service and technology businesses.

Most recently Ms. Brandt was the President and Chief Executive Officer of First American Docutech, providing an end-to-end integrated digital mortgage experience that enables lenders to accelerate the real estate closing process.  She currently sits on the First American Advisory Council. In addition to her executive career, Ms. Brandt currently serves on the boards of Studio Designer, Quisitive Technologies, InhabitIQ, and the Institute of International Education.

Ms. Brandt has over 20 years of successful experience as an accomplished entrepreneur and senior executive with multiple successful private equity backed exits.  She is a multi-award winner, including Housing Wire’s Vanguard Award and Institute of International Education’s Centennial Medal.

Prior to First American Docutech, Ms. Brandt was the President of Originations and Corporate Technology at New Penn Financial, and prior to Penn Financial, the Chief Operating Officer of Prospect Mortgage, Chief Executive Officer of Vantium Capital and head of GE Money Mortgage North America.

Ms. Brandt earned a JD from Arizona State College of Law and a BA in Political Science from the University of Southern California.

Biography

Mr. Bueno joined Falfurrias Management Partners as a Director in 2019.  He was promoted to Managing Director/Head of Strategy and Market Insights in September 2021.  He oversees a team that works to develop and substantiate Falfurrias’ proprietary investment theses, support market and commercial diligence on its investments, and work alongside the management teams of newly joined portfolio companies to develop growth strategies and other value creation opportunities.

Previously, Mr. Bueno was at McKinsey & Company where he focused on growth and go-to-market strategy, operational excellence, and was a member of the Marketing & Sales and Digital practices. While at McKinsey, he advised clients across a range of industries including Tech, Media & Telecom, Industrials, Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Financial Services, and Professional Services.

Biography

Mr. Clifton joined Falfurrias Management Partners as a Partner in 2022. He helps lead Falfurrias Growth Partners and serves on its Investment Committee. He has more than 20 years of private equity and finance experience including helping lead technology and business services investing for The Carlyle Group’s flagship U.S. Buyout Private Equity group and co-founding Supernova Partners, a sponsor of multiple blank-check companies. He has significant experience investing in software, business services, and fintech companies. He is currently a Director of Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ:RGTI) and has served on several private company and non-profit boards.

Mr. Clifton earned an AB, Cum Laude, in Classics from Davidson College, and an MBA with High Distinction from the Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.

Biography

Mr. Dyer began working with Falfurrias Management Partners in 2021 as Co-Investor and Lead Advisory Board member for Crosslake Technologies.  Since that time, he has worked closely with Ed McMahan and the FMP partners to develop and launch FGP I.  Mr. McMahan and Mr. Dyer first worked together more than twenty years ago in lower-middle-market private equity and investment banking.  Mr. Dyer previously served as Managing Director and Partner of The Carlyle Group, which he joined in 2002.  During his 19 years with Carlyle, in which he became Global Co-head of Carlyle’s TMT sector, Mr. Dyer successfully completed investments across application software, data and information technology, IT Services and infrastructure businesses.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Dyer was an Associate with the private equity firm William Blair Capital Partners, a Consultant with Bain & Company, and an Investment Banking Analyst in the M&A Group of Bowles, Hollowell, Conner & Co.  He earned his MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and his BS, Magna Cum Laude, from Washington & Lee University.

Mr. Dyer currently serves as a Director on the boards of Cadence RX, Carolina Tractor & Equipment Company, and non-profit Aspire Community Capital.  He also serves on the Advisory Boards of Melior Equity Partners (formerly Carlyle Ireland), WSC & Co. and Crosslake Technologies.

Biography

Ms. Estes joined Falfurrias Management Partners in 2014 following twenty-three gratifying years with the Charlotte law firm of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A. As the administrative support for more than 125 attorneys and staff, Ms. Estes skillfully managed all client and visitor interactions, serving as the indispensable first point of contact. Her dedication extends beyond the office, where for over two decades, she has been a valued member and volunteer of the ladies’ auxiliary of the Red Fez Shrine Club and has passionately contributed to fundraising efforts for Shriner’s Hospitals for children. Ms. Estes commitment is further exemplified by her past roles as President, Treasurer, and Chair of the ways and means committee.

Mrs. Finlay (formerly Ms. Noonan) joined Falfurrias Management Partners as an Analyst in 2023 and was promoted to Associate in 2024.  Previously, Mrs. Finlay served as an Analyst at Citi in New York. While at Citi, she was a member of the Global Healthcare Group, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, equity raises, private placements, and leveraged finance transactions.  Mrs. Finlay played Division I soccer for Princeton University.

Biography

Mrs. Gates joined Falfurrias Management Partners as Head of Talent in 2023.  She is responsible for leading all talent initiatives and supports the Firm’s portfolio companies and Industry First campaigns.  Prior to joining Falfurrias, Mrs. Gates spent four years as Head of Talent at Juxtapose, an investment firm focused on company creation.  In this role, she built out portfolio company senior executive teams and served as talent counsel for CEOs across Juxtapose’s ventures while also leading recruiting and talent initiatives for the fund.

Before joining Juxtapose, Mrs. Gates was a Principal at Rich Talent Group, a boutique executive search firm in San Francisco, where she led searches for growth-stage digital consumer businesses.  Mrs. Gates studied at Bowdoin College and earned her MBA at UVA’s Darden School of Business.

Biography

Mr. Heidel joined Falfurrias Management Partners in 2021 and currently serves as the Vice President of Finance, Tax and Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Heidel is responsible for fund administration, investor relations, SEC compliance, and leverages his past experience to assist the portfolio with tax strategy. Prior to joining the Firm, he served as a Senior Manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers Asset & Wealth Management Practice. Mr. Heidel specialized in tax due diligence, tax structuring, and tax compliance for private equity funds as well as portfolio companies throughout his public accounting career.

Biography

Ms. Heiser joined Falfurrias Management Partners in 2023 following almost 14 years at Novant Health. During Ms. Heiser’s career at Novant Health, she provided strategic administrative support to multiple senior leaders, and most recently was the Administrative Manager to the EVP and Chief Consumer Officer. In addition, Ms. Heiser helped plan events for the greater Charlotte market, and taught business fundamentals to administrative professionals throughout Novant Health as a Star Achievement Certified Trainer (Office Dynamics International, Inc.). As Executive Assistant at Falfurrias, she will provide administrative support to Amy Brandt, Michael Clifton, Cam Dyer and Nick Bueno.

Mr. Johnson is a Partner and leads the Firm’s investments in Food & Beverage and Industrial Technology.  He re-joined Falfurrias Management Partners in 2016 and was promoted to Partner in January 2021. Previously, Mr. Johnson was Chief Financial Officer of North American T&D Group, a Falfurrias Management Partners-backed holding company for investments in the Power Transmission and Distribution Industry. Prior to North American T&D Group, Mr. Johnson served as a Senior Associate with Falfurrias Management Partners where he focused on acquisition targeting, due diligence, structuring and execution. Prior to Falfurrias Management Partners, Mr. Johnson served as a Financial Analyst for McColl Partners, a Charlotte, North Carolina based middle-market investment bank. Mr. Johnson also served as the Founding Curator of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper Initiative in Charlotte and currently serves on the Board of Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas.

Mr. Kilian joined Falfurrias Management Partners in June 2014 and currently serves as a Managing Director. His primary responsibilities focus on risk assessment through the deal execution process, transaction integration, and ongoing monitoring of portfolio company performance, but he also maintains responsibilities with the management company and fund oversight. He was the Chief Compliance Officer from the date of Falfurrias’ initial SEC registration in 2015, building out the compliance program, through May 2024. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Financial Services Assurance Practice. Prior to PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Kilian worked in assurance services and transaction advisory at Reznick Group.

Biography

Ms. Makuch embarked on her journey with Falfurrias Management Partners in 2024, following nearly two decades of distinguished service at EY. Throughout her tenure at EY, Ms. Makuch played a pivotal role supporting senior-level partners and principals across Financial Services and Tax. Her responsibilities included acting as the primary liaison with sports venues in Charlotte, where she showcased exceptional leadership, management, and communication skills. Ms. Makuch was instrumental in driving operational enhancements through collaborative teamwork and served as a mentor to fellow Executive Assistants.

In her role as Executive Assistant at Falfurrias, Ms. Makuch will provide comprehensive administrative support to Managing Partner Ed McMahan, and Partners Ken Walker, Chip Johnson, Geordie Pierson, and Wilson Sullivan.

Mr. McColl is the Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Falfurrias Management Partners.

Prior to founding the Firm, Mr. McColl was Chairman and CEO of Bank of America. During his tenure as Chairman and CEO, Mr. McColl grew the institution more than fifty-fold, as the bank greatly expanded its offerings of financial products and services, entered new markets across the United States and around the world, and became an industry leader in retail, commercial, corporate and investment banking.

Mr. McColl joined Falfurrias Management Partners as a Senior Associate in 2022.  Previously, Mr. McColl served as an Executive Director of Strategy and Chief of Staff to the CEO at Parexel, a leading global clinical research organization and biopharmaceutical services company.  While at Parexel, Mr. McColl focused on corporate strategy initiatives and helped lead the company’s sale process in 2021.

Mr. McMahan is a Co-Founder and has served as a Partner at Falfurrias Management Partners since 2006 and as its Managing Partner since 2018. Mr. McMahan has been responsible for developing the FMP Industry First strategy and building the FMP team. Along with Marc Oken and Hugh McColl, Mr. McMahan has been a member of the FMP Investment Committee since inception. Mr. McMahan also co-developed and co-founded DealCloud, which was developed in-house to manage FMP’s Industry First deal sourcing methodology and has become the leading CRM, deal sourcing & fund management platform for the capital markets.

Mr. Oken is the Chairman of Falfurrias Management Partners and has been responsible for managing the Falfurrias Management Partners portfolio since inception and building the Falfurrias Management Partners team. Along with his Co-Founders, Hugh McColl, Jr. and Ed McMahan, he is a member of the Falfurrias Management Partners Investment Committee. Mr. Oken served as Managing Partner of the Firm from 2006 until 2018, when Mr. McMahan assumed that role.

Mr. Oken is the former Chief Financial Officer of Bank of America. Prior to his career with Bank of America, Mr. Oken was a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and served as a Fellow at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Oken is past Chairman of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, The Mint Museum of Art, and The Charlotte Symphony. He is the Chairman of the Carolinas Aviation Museum. Mr. Oken served as a Naval Aviator in Vietnam.

Mr. Sullivan is a Partner and leads the Firm’s investments in financial services & technology.  He originally joined Falfurrias Management Partners as an Associate in 2007 before attending business school to earn his MBA.  After receiving his degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, Mr. Sullivan joined Edgeview Partners (now Piper Sandler), an investment bank serving the merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory needs of middle-market clients. Mr. Sullivan then re-joined Falfurrias Management Partners in 2012. He was later promoted to Principal in 2015 and Partner in January 2021.

Mr. Sullivan was a Ground Intelligence Officer and Reconnaissance Platoon Commander in the United States Marine Corps. He earned a BS in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy.

In this role, Mrs. Teets performed both strategic and administrative support. Before joining Madison Marquette, she spent almost five years as the Executive Assistant to the President and Co-Founder of a Private Equity firm in New York City, Somerset Partners.

She has served as the University of Tennessee Alumni Association President for both New York City and Washington, DC Chapters and is currently a Member of the Junior League of Charlotte.

Mr. Walker began his professional career in 1972, when he joined a predecessor of Bank of America. During his thirty-year tenure with the institution, he had a variety of assignments, including corporate banking and founding and managing the Private Placements, Syndications, and Project Finance Groups within NationsBank and NCNB (predecessors of Bank of America). Mr. Walker founded Bank of America Capital Investors in 1993. Capital Investors is a private equity investment arm of Bank of America that focuses on buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth capital financings. During a ten-year span, Capital Investors invested approximately $1.4 billion in more than one hundred equity and mezzanine transactions. Mr. Walker was the Managing Partner until his retirement in 2002.
